Pokerstars
With millions of registered players and over 220,000 simultaneous players during peak hours, Pokerstars is far and away the largest online poker site in the world. They offer more tournaments, more cash games, and more promotions than any other site. Register at Pokerstars Now.
While a lot of other poker sites have generated a good portion of their players by offering big bonuses, Pokerstars has achieved their success through attractive tournament promotions, solid customer service, and a great VIP program. Until August of 2009, Pokerstars only offered a $50 bonus, while other top poker sites have been offering $500 or more. Now Pokerstars has put together the entire package, offering more great game choices than ever, plus a huge bonus of 100% up to $600.
Pokerstars Bonus
As mentioned above, the new Pokerstars bonus is 100% up to $600. It also has easier clearing requirements than the old bonus. Micro and low-stakes players now earn partial VIP Players Points for small pots, meaning they can now earn bonus money – a great change to the bonus.
The Pokerstars bonus is easy to clear at $.25/.50 NL and $.50/1 FL games. Those who play in a lot of sit-n-go tournaments can clear the bonus fairly quickly as well. For more details about the bonus, check out our Pokerstars deposit bonus page.

Competition
Depending on what you play, the strength of your competition will vary. Texas Hold’em and Omaha games are typically fairly tough, but 7 Card Stud games are easier to beat. The Razz and Badugi competition is generally weak, making them very profitable for good players. Mixed games are hit or miss. If you’re at a tough table, we suggest changing to another table as quickly as possible because easier games can be found.
In comparison to other online poker sites, Pokerstars.com has weaker players at micro & low-stakes games, sprinkled with some stronger players. When you sit down at any table, stay tight for a couple rounds, finding out who to play and who to stay away from.
At higher stakes levels, the competition is generally tougher than other sites.
Poker Stars Tournament Review
While Full Tilt Poker has a lot of tournaments, even they can’t compete with the massive volume and guaranteedĀ prize pools that Pokerstars offers. Pokerstars.com has sit-n-go tournaments of every kind and buy-in amount, plus huge guaranteed tournaments running every day of the week. The 2 largest weekly tournaments online are both at Pokerstars, and both held every Sunday.
Pokerstars holds satellite tournaments for the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT), European Poker Tour (EPT), and just about every other major, live event in the world. They are also the sponsor for the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure which is the second largest tournament in the world (second only to the WSOP Main Event).
If you can think of it, Pokerstars probably has it. This is the main reason Pokerstars is the largest and best overall poker site in the world. If you don’t have an account at Pokerstars, you can sign up here.
Pokerstars.com is home to the two largest poker series’ online, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), and the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). These two series’ offer dozens of tournaments with a wide variety of game choices. The smallest guaranteed prize pool is $100,000, while the main events have $10 million prize pool. Most events have guaranteed prizes of at least $400,000. Satellites and qualifiers for all of these events are available, starting for as little as $1 or 20 FPP’s.
Pokerstars Sunday Tournaments
It would be an incomplete review for us to talk about Pokerstars without talking about their Sunday guaranteed tournaments. First off, the Pokerstars Sunday Million is the largest weekly tournament online.
Pokerstars Sunday Million
The Pokerstars Sunday Million has become so big that it now has a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool. The direct buy-in to this tournament is $215, and satellites run all day long, all week long, for as little as $2 in cash or 100 Frequent Player Points (FPP’s). The Sunday Million begins at 16:30 ET and typically has between 7500-8000 players. Players start with a deep stack of 10,000 chips and the blinds go up every 15 minutes. Register Here.
Pokerstars Sunday Warm Up
The Pokerstars Sunday Warm Up is the second largest weekly tournament (tied with the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Sunday tournament), and has the same $215 direct buy-in as the Sunday Million. This tournament starts 3 1/2 hours before the Sunday Million, at 13:00 ET every Sunday. It also gives players 10,000 chip starting stacks and 15 minute blind levels.
Other Sunday Tournaments
Besides these two huge tournaments, Pokerstars still runs several other big tournaments on Sundays. There is the Sunday 500, with a $500,000 prize pool and $500 direct buy-in starting at 17:30 ET. The Sunday Second Chance gives players yet another shot at a $200,000 prize pool, starting at 19:00 ET for $215. If you prefer non-Hold’em games, there are some big Stud, Omaha, and Razz tournaments also held every Sunday.
$250,000 Guaranteed Sunday Tournament – $10 Buy-In
Don’t want to spend $200+ for a tournament? You don’t have to because Pokerstars has a $250,000 guaranteed tournament that runs at 15:30 ET every Sunday, with a direct buy-in of just $10+1. This is a great tournament, and every low-stakes player who wants a shot at big money should be playing in it. Players get 3000 chip starting stacks and the blinds go up every 10 minutes.
Pokerstars Customer Support Review
Pokerstars only offers customer support via email, but they have possibly the best email support in the industry. They respond quickly, and with a high rate of accuracy.
