As more poker sites institute rakeback many players have become more informed on the topic. However, the vast majority of online poker players still have no idea what rakeback is, or what the advantages of rakeback are. For most online players, rakeback would save them a ton of money, and might help them deposit less and withdraw more. Why Get Rakeback?
Of course, the main advantage of rakeback is the fact that you’re paying less rake, and thus will have extra money in your account. You still pay the full rake at the table, but you are paid back a percentage of the rake at certain intervals (daily, weekly, or monthly).
Many players may argue that rake is insignificant, but they couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, an average $1/$2 player playing just 50 hands per day (only a half hour of play at one table), would generate over $2,400/year of rake. If you were on an average 30% rakeback deal, you’d receive over $700 in extra poker money for the year. For a $1/$2 player, that’s over 350 big blinds!
How to Get Rakeback
If you’re interested in rakeback, there are basically two ways to go about getting it. You either can get “in-house” rakeback, or “third party” rakeback. I’ll explain both methods now:
In House Rakeback
In House rakeback is completely run by the poker room. You’ll sign up through a third party site (called an affiliate), but after that you deal with the room directly. The poker site will pay you your money, and keep track of your stats. It is widely agreed that in-house rakeback is the best, because you don’t have to cash money out from a third party, and support is handled by the poker room itself.
Third Party Rakeback
Third Party rakeback is handled by a third party site completely. This means that you’d sign up through the affiliate site, create an account with them, and that is where you’ll keep track of your monthly rake, and also where you’ll cash your money out at the end of each month.
Many professional affiliate sites offer outstanding customer service, but some third party rakeback providers don’t do quite as well of a job. That is why it’s always easier for a player to use an in-house rakeback provider.
Some of the in-house, automated rakeback providers include PKR.com, Cake Poker, and Aced Poker. Some sites that only offer third party rakeback are Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker, and Ultimate Bet. To learn more about PKR in particular, check out this site about PKR rakeback.
